So what is the chemical reaction that is occurring with the chip?

Is it the paper inlay, the glue that attached the inlay to the chip, or the coating on the surface of the chip?

Has anyone cut a chip in half to see what is causing the discoloration?

So, if I dipped my chip in sunscreen and stuck it in the sun, would it prevent the chip from discoloring?
