I would argue that (if in fact it is Tahoe ... which seems reasonable to me!) this sign has to be in the South Shore since the terrain would indicate that the lake is to the left of the sign. So if it was North Shore by the Cal Neva, that picture is taken looking into California and the sign has been mounted backwards!

South Shore of Tahoe is the only thing that makes sense with the orientation of the sign and the terrain.
