I think on the whole the USA missed a really good opportunity to develop high speed train travel altogether!

Think what congestion we would have avoided!
Think what it would have meant for the air pollution around airports!
Think what it would have meant in the long term for our infra-structure.
etc.!

It's really a shame how bad Amtrak is and how little investment we have put into the best and most reliable form of transportation!

Freight trains too!
