I was interviewing Dave Whalen about other unrelated things. I just happened to spot the Borlands while he was showing me around. They were with his stock of blanks for personal/custom chips. I told him I thought this was a huge waste. I used the word 'confiscate' as a joke. A couple of days earlier, Dave had showed Gene Trimble a chip and Gene said he was'confiscating' it.
I paid Dave the value of 'blanks' for the Borlands. This was all nothing to do with the other matters I had gone to see Dave about. I did however mention it when I 'reported back', and agreed that as it was wrong to sell the few fake Dunes chips in the box, I would give them away to Borland collectors, which I did.
