I assume you think the selling fees would be too much? OK, let's take a look at them...
Listing Fees:
He listed the item in two categories with a gallery image, started it at $1.00, has 12 hosted photos, is a featured plus auction and a homepage featured auction.
insertion fees: 40¢ x 2 = 80¢
gallery image: 35¢ x 2 = 70¢
A picture pack is $1.50 x 2 = $3.00
featured plus is $19.95 x 2 = $39.90
homepage featured for two categories is $79.95
Total listing fees were $124.35
Final Value Fees:
$1.31 for the first $25.00 (5.25%)
$31.69 for $25.01 to $1,000 (3.25%)
$7,534.50 for $1,000.01 to $503,300.00 (1.5%)
Total Final Value Fees:: $7,567.49
Total eBay Fees: $124.35 + $7,567.49 = $7,691.94.
Not counting PayPal fees, that works out to a less than 1.53% selling fees to eBay which I think any one would find quite reasonable considering eBay's selling platform, worldwide exposure and the incredible final value that was achieved.
Plus of the 74K+ people who have viewed this auction think about how many of them have visited his "Battlefield Miliataria and Antiques" eBay store. Even if only 2% went that's 1,500 new sets of eyeballs to his other offers.
Do you really think this seller is complaining about the fees?
For you trivia buffs the most expensive item ever sold on eBay was a Gulfstream II business jet that sold for $4.9M in August of 2001. I don't think that seller had a problem with the fees either.
Just one more reason I LOVE eBAY !
