Gene, I could hardly care less, but:
¶ Carbin writes in his book that as a boy he and his friends had a great interest in arrowheads, and that he developed a lifelong interest in them. That is why he is sure he remembers the arrowhead chips he saw in the NY club.
¶ Many dealers in the Saratoga area have these chips that they found locally. They all say they are from the Arrowhead. The chips are common in the Saratoga area.
¶ The Ohio Arrowhead existed in the 1930's. The NY one, ran through the 1940s into the early 50's. It is possible that the Ohio chips were later used in NY. Lansky, who owned the NY one, was frugal. They could have been used for special purposes with other chips, though we don't have the other ones around. Chips have moved from place to place before; it is not unusual. Arrowhead is a common name.
¶ The chips could be generic. There are a lot of them around. The Nason family doesn't have even half of them I'd guess. It is possible that the chips and hot-stamp could have been resurrected many times.
¶ In 1999, Ed Hertel wrote, "I was given a handful of these chips from a Saratoga resident who said they came right out of the Arrowhead. (He goes on to say she handed him an old racing form with an ad from the Arrowhead INN (below))" [I have never seen the form. I am not sure what it showed.] He continues, "She was a local of Saratoga and was not a chip collector. She was not trying to sell the chips, so I don't think she was trying to mislead me in any way." He goes on to say that the games in Saratoga were seasonal, so chips often moved around from town to town.

Just repeating what I heard from others.
Happy birthday,
Robert
