>Once again, Bob Orme does not know what he's talking about.<
Show us all what you are talking about with that statement.
>I placed my chip up for bid on Ebay THREE DAYS AFTER TROPICANA ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WERE ALL SOLD OUT.<
You speculated as to where the remaining chips were in the casino Archie. Care to provide any proof of any announcement by the Tropicana that the chips were sold out three days before your auction listing????
>The fact is that a $50 opening bid is a fair one in my opinion and is commensurate with the value of the only other $5 L.E. chip of 500 issued in Atlantic City history!<
$50 minimum within the same week of the chip issue? Get real! You can have your opinion, but you fail to realize that your opinion has influence in this hobby, or maybe you don't. That is what I'm questioning...
>ANY opening bid I place on ANY chip that I post on Ebay is none of the business of Bob Orme's. It's not his chip to sell. If I had placed an opening bid of $100, what business would that be of Mr. Orme?<
True if it didn't bother me when I think someone is doing harm to our hobby when the person doing it is doing so from a position of authority.
>This chip is no different than any other chip for sale in the marketplace.<
Obviously it is to you, and you made sure it was also to casino personel, ergo the artificial inflated value.
>If the price is too high, don't bid on it. If you can find the chip cheaper elsewhere, go buy it. If you can find the chip cheaper elsewhere, go buy it. Ebay is not the final authority on a chip's worth. Bidders determine that.<
If you would have let the market play out, that would be the case. Given your influence, the market changed.
>How a guy in New Jersey, sitting on two dozen of these chips can "manipulate" the market.... someone else (other than Bob Orme who has an axe to grind) will have to explain that one to me.<
Influence Archie. Ask Dave why he got shut out of buying the chips he wanted. It wasn't because some unknown gambler put one of these chips on eBay for $50 minimum. It was because you did. Artificial inflated value.
You can claim I have some axe to grind. I don't. I will express my opinions when I think someone is doing something that hurts our hobby, and that is what I'm doing here.
