If the camera has a macro setting, use it. Try to shoot on the same same plane. Either stand the chip on its side and set the camera down and use a steady hand to trip the shutter or use the timer. A light source 45° from the subject is preferable. Use a photo manipulation software to crop out backgrounds or change their colors.
Here's an old test. One was shot with a flatbed scanner the other with a digital camera. Once you've set it up, you can take multiple shots with the camera.
