Katie, you don't have to switch to have that level of control in your life. In Netscape, click Edit, Preferences, Appearance, Colors. On the right you can select link colors. Be aware some web pages specify link colors. You can check the box here to override those colors, but depending on their background, you may not like the results. Using Netscape or IE won't make any difference. Of course, you can always change these preferences while visiting a troublesome site, then change them back.
Now, if you do switch to IE, LMK how you like it. I've tried it, and I hate it's bookmarks, and all the things I can't do, or can't do easily, that I can do easily in Netscape, like looking at the URL of an image before I click on it. The only thing IE does better than Netscape in my experience is interpret files without extensions.
Bopth browsers can coexist on your system, and you can switch back and forth as you see which one you like. I see no reason to get religious here. Each has it's appeal.
