That being the case, there is no copyright violation at all, in which case my comments would have no application to your site.

I think I said I have no problem with that approach. And let me say one more time, I think stealing scans sucks, for all of the reasons mentioned in this thread.

I wasn't lumping Bennie and the rest of you in together; I agree that what he is doing is offensive, at least in the context of our chip collecting community. Maybe I haven't made that clear enough. What I have been trying to do is offer another perspective regarding what might happen in the larger world if anyone tried to do anything about the problem.

Glad to see I'm still on your good side, Andy, despite the abhorrence with which you hold my opinion on this subject! <g> And, I understand why you don't care about the legal point of view. We can each have our opinions; I just think we should have them with a clear understanding of how they fit into the larger context. In essence, I'm doing the same thing here you want to do in advising that someone is using your scans -- I'm providing information which all readers of the board can use in forming their own opinions on the subject.
