I stayed at the Aladdin during the convention last year. I will be staying at Planet Alladinwood in three weeks, so I should have a good feel for the changes.

I was very happy with my stay there last year. I booked a package rate at $49 per night Monday thru Thursday, and $99 for Friday, with a bunch of standard coupon two-fers. I tipped the clerk at check-in. The best $20 I ever spent in my life. She put me in a gorgeous suite overlooking the Bellagio Fountains. The bathroon was bigger than my living room at home. This year, I booked at $69 per mid-week.

The downside last year was that large portions of the lobby were blocked off. You didn't see the construction, but the whole thing had a "trapped in a maze" feel to it. Also, the point about the monorail stop is important, especially for older conventioneers. I am in shape, and the walk to and thru Ballys to get on it was a killer.
