...you are absolutely right!! No doubt about it ... there are nicer (more expensive) properties in Las Vegas than the Riviera.
And there are always cheaper places to stay, but if the club does not maintain a reasonable number of hotel rooms booked at the host hotel for our convention dates..., and spend enough money through the food & beverage department ... we may not be invited back again.
I know that it's hard to resist staying elsewhere for $10-$15 per night less, but when one considers the CONVENIENCE of staying at the host hotel (like the 114 degree heat Don mentioned) and the traffic, etc ... it's really not that much more to stay at the Riviera during the days the convention in in progress where one can simply go upstairs to your hotel room instead of across town to freshen up and change clothes, or to retrieve that item you left in another hotel room a mile away... not to mention missing out on the socialization with other chippers who are also staying at the host hotel.
