I wish I could remember. That's one of the reasons I switched to mac. My hard drive/computer would crash. Try googling hard drive recovery. It's pretty easy to do. I've done that at least twice and it works as long as you haven't tried to reboot or restore it. I know you know that, but every time you save info on the hard drive it erases old info.
