Jim...In todays world you'll get to an attorney much quicker...facing a fraud charge. What don't you folks understand? The other guys story must be different. If the stories don't match they will investigate to determine who is at fault. That could take awhile. Rental reimbursement in NY (cost is high) is about $18 every 6 months for up to $40 per day rental. I have the coverage and I offer it to EVERY client because no company will pay until it is determined that their insured was at fault. I have only 1 car and I need it to get to work. Body shops because of the high cost of parts do not stock them anymore. They have to be ordered...that takes time. Buy the rental coverage...sooner or later your going to need it. Otherwise you can pay & get reimbursed the state minium or get stuck with the whole cost if your at fault or like Mike sit and wait for a determination.
