its all horrible junk, but what makes meth worse is the danger to people who are nearby when it is being made. The simple accumulation of chemicals used in it is a threat.
Cheaper means more people have the ability to cook their brains. More accessible to kids (and I mean little kids).
I deal with people everyday whose lives are already destroyed. I have had clients who were effectively dead. You know their world is cracked when the conversation centers not on what steps can be taken to clean up and impress the judge, but how to manipulate the system to get the client into a particular prison where they think they can continue their habit.
I have a client who is not yet old enough to go into a bar (legally), but she looks like she has lived a hard 40. She was arrested for prostitution. She offered to perform an ugly sexual act on each of 3 guys, for $10. One of them was a police officer. During questioning, she admitted that she had already committed the act over 20 times that day for at most $5 a shot, but she was angry that she wasn't paid for many of the efforts.
Her 18 yo brother, the only one in the family who will even acknowledge her existence, hired me. She'll get time served when her next court date comes up. He can't afford to bond her out, he can't even pay me. Maybe that is why I am not very good at private practice, how do I say I won't help a kid who has lost his sister and doesn't know it yet, just because he can't pay me.
I guess it was wrong for me to be light about this issue, and for Bus to make a joke about Pasternack, I wasn't bothered because I know Mike has a big heart and a good sense of humor. I also know Bus would bust a gut to help Mike if he needed it. If I didn't make light occasionally, the weight of it all would crush me.
Thats why this hobby, and going to Vegas, keep me sane (well sorta sane). Now I've depressed myself, evil punishes everybody.
