I am preparing to make my next step as a chipper this summer...liberating a roulette chip (I'm starting slow)...can somebody 'splain to me the strategies for "liberating" roulette chips? I've heard the basic..."buy in, play a little while, make a last bet and leave while the ball is spinning with a chip in your hand" - that seems so obvious. As a dealer, I's be tempted to notify a nearby supervisor if someone left that way - IF keeping roulettes is that big a deal to them.

I'm not a roulette player so tell me why this won't work...pick a busy table and do the above but don't leave. Palm a chip, make a last bet, wait 'till it loses, then walk....wouldn't the dealer be caught up in payouts for at least a minute? time enough for you to be gone? I've seen some type of mechanical sorters...how long would it take for them to notice a missing chip?

How illegal is it to appropriate roulettes? I understand WHY they don't want you to - but how hard do they work at it? It just doesn't seem like it's worth their time compared to the other ways they can lose much bigger money.
