When I was first getting into this hobby, I remember an article in one of the magazines (perhaps even our own CCTN) about the Chipco, bad resin (fading) problem.
Again, as I recall, the article discussed how Chipco had a bad resin situation where the inking process resulted in fading. Chipco's action was to replace all bad batch resin chips at no charge. The casino just needed to send them back to get replacements and the bad ones were then destroyed by Chipco. A couple of casino decided to not send them back in, but most did.
Chipco has long since avoided the problem and if old Chipcos have not faded by now, then they won't at this point.
I suspect that Chuck may have a replacement chip and a faded one, and not a faded one and a re-ordered chip.
Lastly, I recall Gene Trimble had some info on this. Heck, he may have even been the author of the article.
