I started collecting chips in 1976 when I attended my first firefighters convention at the MGM (Bally's now). After that I frequented Atlantic City
1. was at the Resorts the first month it opened.
2. was at the Brighton and have a snapper from there
In the 1980 after purchasing a BJ table that came out of Reno that had a hydraulic lift to change the height of the table for the benefit of the dealers backs, I needed chips to hold games in my basement so I called a supply house and talk to a guy named Bill Borland (who would have known) He sent me samples and I ended up buying hundreds of $1, $100, $500, and $1000 chips. The table came full of Pick hobsons $5 and $25 chips along with McCarlie's High Sierra $5's.
Then I took to collecting more seriously and just recently decided that it was time along with the fact that I want a TRIKE. you know the rest.
So alot of the recent increases may be due to me, but I'm almost done and have a local women buying alot of my last chips.
I have had a great time collecting and met alot of nice people. Of course every group has their bad apples but thats another story.
I'm already having withdrawal's from my inactivity from the chipboard.
Thanks to all who helped towards my quest. I'll post a picture of my TRIKE as soon as I own it.
