So true! Ever notice the era aof music in cartoon backgrounds? And they always a crank telephone and model T cars. I too am too young to rember rations but my parents and grandparents had many stories about those times. Much of rationing was true need and I think there were other things that people did to 'feel' like they were making a difference in the war effort. Rationing worked because people aggreed with it and wanted to help, I think times have changed and it would not work today. People would not stand behind the effort now. One thing everyone had in common then ... they were all in the same sitiation. You can tell the people who when through those times now, they are the ones who still conserve, re-use, and waste little. Today we have become a very 'throw-away' society, when it breaks just throw it away and get a new one! We are a different society for sure.

I used to say "Back in the good ole days?" and my dad would say yes back in the good ole days when we had no air conditioning, refeigerators, TV's, modern medicine.... Those good ole days??
