Tonight’s notes are not actually notes but coupons or another form of currency. This money is some that you NEVER want to be in the position to use! It is coupons used by the inmates to buy items from the commissary. Prisoners do work and were paid in the coupons. I acquired most of these from a collection in, of all places, Canada. When I got them originally I called the main prison in Huntsville Texas to get more information on them and found out they had stopped using them in 1980 and now use an ID badge with a magnetic strip that works like a debit card against their account. Talking with them I discovered they had a prison memorabilia museum and I had ones that were signed by wardens they did not have on theirs and offered to buy them, I declined but I guess I should have asked what the offer was before I declined! These have no book value that I know of, and are in the ‘something different’ category. ENJOY
