OH I think lots of people think about it (see elvis, Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon, etc). It is usually when they die in thir prime, and unexpectedly. And yes Smith qualifies on those points, but I don't think fake endowments and a lot of wierdness will have staying power (at least I hope not).
