I don't have a James book or a TCR with me right now so I can't ID the chip but I think it is safe to say that THAT particular chip is NOT an R-10 anymore.
What can happen is the guide book might have been released in 2004 for instance and at that time, that chip might be an R-10. Then let’s say early 2006 rolls around and a whole box of that same chip is found in dearly departed Aunt Muriel's dresser drawers. The book still says it's an R-10 but it really isn't anymore.
Or it could be the guide book missed the mark on this particular chip. I believe the authors go above and beyond the call of duty when they do their due diligence before they put anything to ink. But there are a lot of chips out there and it's hard to have all the information.
Have you sent 6996 an e-mail or a message via eBay's messaging system? He is probably well meaning but doesn't have all the info. Here is a link to another auction for this same chip that closed a while back.
