In some cases, the casino will send a "package" to slot club members where they will give you certain specials for staying with them. I took advantage of a good room rate at the MGM last year for the convention and, in addition to the rate, 2 for 1 meals, discounts on shopping, nightclubs, spa, etc., I got $25 in "chips".

The NCV pictured below is what I got. My wife wanted me to play it, but a free chip is a free chip! <g>
