Re: A Fantasy Casino?
In Response To: Re: A Fantasy Casino? ()

The Newport Stardust did in fact exist, at 613 Monmouth based on an article in the Post in 1959. This joint had numerous names beginning in the early 1940's as the Stark Club opened by Big Jim Harris, the marshall of Walton Ky.

The joint had several other names over the years including the Stork Club, the Rhythm Club, Club Bongo, The Silver Slipper The Frolic and even today exists as the Brass Ass, a strip joint.

The Silver Slipper had authenticated chips, but I have never been able to determine that the Stardust chips were actually from the Newport location. The joint was in operation as the Stardust for a very short time, just before becoming the Silver Slipper in late 1959.

There was a Cleveland connection with Harris and Cleveland probably ran the 613 Monmouth locations after Harris was ousted in 1956,and the similarity in the logo to the Vegas location looks very close.

Overall, however this joint was always a bustout and chips from ther are possible, but not authenticated.
