In my opinion, the attribution for the AC chip as the Alibi Club in Newport is more of making initials match the joint's name.
The Alibi club was in the Newport "bottoms" at 310 Central Avenue. It started as a restaurant and became one of Screw Andrew's joints in the 1950's. Later it became the Golden Lounge...a blues bar.
There were many "clubs" on Central Ave., most old houses and no other had chips including Screw's Congo Club, Sportsman's Club and the Copa Club.
Never seen any records on any of these and doubt very much if they had chips (all had gambling, used CASH!).
