One place that doesn't get mentioned too much is Vacation Village at the (way) south end of the strip. I kind of like the fact that you are almost in the middle of nowhere when you pull into their lot (but keep in mind it's really only a couple of miles south of Mandaly Bay). You can even look from there north and see the South end of the Strip shimmering in the desert heat.
Anyway, when I was there a couple of years ago they had two great deals:
- change $10 for quarters at the bar ("$10 buy-in") and get a free draft beer (of good beer) and a hot dog. You're sort of expected to play the (good) video poker machines, but you don't have to. And there didn't seem to be a limit (did it 4 times in a row once).
- if you pull in there within 12 hours of landing in Vegas, you used to get a sheet with a bunch of lucky bucks, free drink coups, etc. Plus, you get a spin on their big six wheel for a chance to get back your airfare, rental car fee, a free stay at the hotel, or (more likely) a $1-$20 dollar amount. In any case, you get SOMETHING for stopping by. Over the years I won some money on the wheel, drank a lot of beers, ate a lot of hot dogs, and played a lot of video poker. And the machines were full pay 9/6 jacks and others.
I hope things have not changed too much. Can any locals comment on the place?
I put a link to the place below.....
