To All,
I have read with interest ALL posts involving Jim Reilly's proposed grading system for our club. Here is my input, opinions, and observations for whatever they are worth.
First of all our President David Sarles feels there is not a need for aa "official" club grading system. I am happy he has an opinion and I am also happy he shared his opinion with Jim Reilly. However, with all due respect I do not believe David can be objective since he is a member of a group of four who purchase chips via ads in magazines. The objectivity of President Sarles pertaining to grading systems isn't compromised because he buys or sells chips through magazines. I believe his objectivity could be compromised because he is partners with the two authors of "The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide" that advocates an "Official" grading system that is completely outlined in their book.
Secondly, our Club Secretary Barry Weintraub is also one of the members of this group of four and therefore I believe, in my opinion, cannot be totally objective when it comes to a grading system either.
Because of the possible lack of objectivity of two of our club officers involving grading systems, I agree with my friend Gene Trimble. This issue must be taken out of the hands of the club officers and put into the hands of the people. A Constitutional amendment is needed too forever ban ANY grading system EVER involving our club including Jim Reillys. Does this mean I agree with Kerry about sticking the camel's nose under the tent - YOU BET I DO!
Finally, I agree with Larry Hollibaugh. We need a dictionary of terms endorsed by the club. This is a far cry from a grading system.
David Sarles - I voted for you. I supported you because I believed you and Janice O'Neal would provide the leadership the organization needed going into the year 2000. I have kept still giving you time to get organized and outline a plan for the future. I did this out of respect and friendship. Janice resigned and I bit my lip even though I saw another one of my friends "hurt" and the loss of a valuable asset for the club. I am sorry David. I see no plan, I read no plan, there appears to be no vision towards the future. How much longer must I and other club members wait??? We are headed upon a course of stagnation and destruction. I talk with many club members who feel lost and let down. It makes me sad. Best, Jim
