Nutrition is not my area (as many on here can tell you). I was a prosecutor and then a public defender for 6 years. I have heard the argument, and when I was an ASA i worked for a politician who said the same blather. As a PD, taxes did pay my salary, but I didn't answer to the government, and was more than happy to tell folks who said that to me, who cares. Most of the people who did say it, didn't pay taxes anyway.
