No Longer A Borland!!! ?

So what's the current thinking on this little guy? After acquiring this chip in 5/00 from Rizzo, I listed this as N1449 with the note "Borland Imitation". Even though I'd only been collecting for about 6 months I did put add "?" to the note. Borland was before my time and some folks seemed to be carrying around some real baggage about this character. I was kinda dissappointed that this chip wasn't the real deal...or was it? Jeez, it's got table wear doesn't it, look at that big flake and the nicks and such. Used in California, they said! Uh, really? So I studied about medal-aligned vs. coin-aligned vs. random acts of chip stampin' and the mysterious bronze/gold foil factor and scratched my head and put the little tyke in a binder. Kept the "?" open after all this time just in case.

Been buying a few Borland not-real-casino-chips from Mr. Spragg lately and observing his scholarship on the subject with input from some other folks. Good stuff, thank you. Found it very interesting when the Hotel Nevada Battle Mtn. Diecar story surfaced. I wondered about my 25¢ CastaBorland. Looked at David's stuff last night again and did a TCR lookup. Ta Da! The little bast*rd chip has been let in from the cold! He's been christened with the moniker E0198, a number that only appeared with TCR #10.

E0198. Is that right for the chip in my scan? Has this chip been accepted as a real in-play Castaways chip? I'm guessing that ol' N1449 must be one 'a them brand-new appearing Nevada molds with the tanning bed BronzeTone stamping and the Borland DNA? Comments welcome! vbg

E0198 is correct. Your chip is 'real'
