In the light of ongoing debates, discussions, or call them what you will, the ever increasing production of 'non-casino' chips, and my experiences after 2 years of maintaining the clubs existing 'fakes' page (where I literally have hundreds of new items that could be added), I have just submitted the following to the powers that be
========================================
I want to revisit a suggestion I made when I took over the maintenance of the club 'fakes' page.
The number of new designs appearing is increasing exponentially.
I appreciate that when this educational page was first formed, the vast majority of items listed were those that could more easily have been confused with 'the genuine article' as they bore real or plausible casino names or locations.
Whilst many of the newer ones that spring up dont necessarily fall into that category, I accept that it is clear these new chips do from time to time appear for sale 'mis-represented' and they warrant their listing within the club 'resource'.
I want to expand this resource as follows:
Creation of a new 'sub-site' on one of my domains with multiple pages.
These multiple pages to cover home poker, fantasy, counterfeit, movie props, casino never opened etc. etc. initially in the categories I already defined after consultation with many bb readers in the past, but, if the standards committee ultimately agree on any differing categories or titles then it can be brought into line accordingly.
It would also have a single alphabetical listing of everything appearing on the pages.
An introduction could explain more thoroughly why this resource exists and what the (in particular new) collectors should be wary of.
This subsite would link directly from the 'Fakes' tab on the club website. It would not be linked to any other of my sites except where links to stand alone articles or images are used exactly as they are now. The whole thing would be stand alone in the same manner as the slabfree, building fund and club mag archive etc. are now.
I would initially develop this alongside the existing resource (probably with a link to it so people can see how its progressing) until such time it was deemed acceptable to 'switch over'. It would be much easier for me to maintain, set up assistance if needed, and could even incorporate an area for anyone to upload new items for me.
