While I don't like the fakes, fantasies, reproductions, repaired chips, counterfeits, re-manufactured chips, or any other non-casino chips... the fact is that they are out there and they will continue to multiply.
The web site that David maintains is a start at educating casino chip collectors. Hundreds of collectors have seen the site...thousands haven't.
Perhaps the next step at educating collectors would be a regular column in the CC&TN? It could be as simple as a title "Non-casino chips", a sentence or two explaining that the pictured chips might (or might not) look like casino-issued chips, but they weren't manufactured for use in a casino, and pictures of a dozen or two dozen non-casino chips.
As I said, just a thought...
