Greg,
There's a bit of history here, which I'm not going to start re-hashing again. You do make valid points, and yes, in the interests of full disclosure chips should be described as accurately as possible. In this case however, the auction description is vague because of one club member's nasty, vindictive campaign against Josh a while back. In your gift scenario, your mom would probably not find the link to the CC>CC fakes page...BUT the Osbournes are now collectible chips. If your mom buys you a chip, enjoy it. You wouldn't be the first of us to find out after a purchase that a chip was not what you thought it was.
Case in point: I wonder what you paid for the black Silver Slipper chip in the lower left of your posted scan...did you do your research before buying that chip??? Do you know the story behind it? What did you pay for it? How would you feel if you found out it was not a classic Vegas chip?
If you want, email me privately and I'd be happy to fill in the blanks for you. Your "newbie's take" is honorable, but it's only the precipitous tip of a much larger iceberg.
