Hiya Greg, I'm a Nevada Club enthusiast so I looked at my own chip and a few others from the same issue etc. and you have been unlucky to get a chip as you described. While the condition of the inlay is something that is not very common, man-made bits can have some variance and I'm not at all suprised that this has spoiled the beauty of the chip for you. I wouldn't consider your chip as damaged but it's certainly not a prime example even as a new condition chip.
Value of this chip seems to have some variance also. Campliga/Wells guide values this chip a little higher than TCR and both opinions are always worthy of consideration. My observation is that these high denomination Nevada Lodge/Nevada Club chips are pretty popular as collectible chips and beating book values would make the buyer lucky indeed. These were some of T.R.King's best work imo.
Me, I'd consider keeping it if the seller could have offered another $5 off but might send it back for a refund if the deal as it stands bothered me. You could hang onto it until you find an upgrade replacement and put it up for trade or flog it on too.
Sounds like your almost there but if you buy what you like, you'll never be disappointed in what it's worth. You'll pick up confidence in what you decide as you go along in this hobby and that is where the enjoyment is to be found.
