....you've acquired this $20,000 face value collection (according to one of your earlier posts), which I know you didn't buy overnight... you've been reading the Chip Board and posting for several years that I'm aware of.... And you JUST NOW figured out that there aren't chip dealers on every corner??
Didn't you buy most of your chips one at a time? But now you expect to be able to easily sell them in one big lot, AND make a handsome profit?
It seems to me that a large percentage of the posts you've made over the years were about the market value of chips, and more specifically the differences betweeen the values of limited edition chips (which you've been a cheerleader for) and other chips. I'm thinking maybe you started collecting chips for the wrong reason.
If you were looking at chips as an investment you could easily liquidate and always at a profit, perhaps you should have put your money in certificates of deposit instead--something with a guaranteed return. Or, better yet, U.S. Savings Bonds. That way, you could cash them in at any bank in the country.
My advice would be to do one of the following:
1. If you want to rid yourself completely of all chips quickly, accept one of the offers that have been extended from the dealers.
2. Sell them on eBay in small lots or one at a time.
3. Quit threatening to take them back to the cage and actually do so.
4. Stop obsessing about how much money you have tied up in your collection, take a break from even thinking about chips for a while and see if you still want to sell them in six months. You've spent a lot of time building a collection and you may regret selling it later if you act too hastily.
