Even it were possible, the nature of the way the repair work is done would probably mean 2 examples of the chip would have to be used to get one good one.

Filling a hole or a single nick is one thing. There is sufficient all round surface for the filler to bond to.

I just remembered another form of alteration that was described to me.
Sanding down the entire edge of a chip by maybe 1/2mm to remove most rim nicks and square up the edges again.
Many older chips vary from 38mm to 40mm by virtue of wear, and different original size when manufactured. Entirely possible people might not notice this alteration, at least not at first.
