It's official: cheesy show revue "Splash," which has been at the Riviera since 1985, is closing. The press release is stunningly succinct, with no backslapping or hubbub for a show that has lasted two decades on the Strip:

"'Splash' will officially close on Oct. 1, 2006. The last performance will be Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006."

I remember I got home from the first Riviera convention and heard about the good times some folks were having at a place called "The Splash Bar". Gee, I must have missed that...probably one of those ultra cool places like Tao, Pure or Elbow where Paris and Clooney and Rodman and Norgard go for a good time away from the common folks. Wasn't the naughty show at the Riv called "Splash"? Maybe it's some private fancy place where cool folks rule. Who's Brian Cashman? May be way outta my league. Perhaps something like this:

Oh Geez, found the place this last time! It was the casino bar with good chippers and bad beer! Did indeed meet lots of cool guys and gals there and yes, Mr. SlashBar does rule. Billy hasn't shown up there yet and this fellow was on the road or something I guess.

Well shoot, wonder if SplashBar is due to be cancelled too? We could move to this place as it's got chips...if we could find it.
