I don't sell on ebay so I've never been tempted. But you are correct that this issue has been discussed before. I made the error of asking what the big deal was, and received a vociferous education.

Interestingly, I have found that if I ask to borrow a scan (I use them to make my wish list so I can quickly see which chips I am still looking for), almost everybody is willing to allow me to do so. I do assure them that I will not use the scan in any inappropriate manner (such as commercially).

I doubt this helps, but if you search my question, you may find the discussion, which was lengthy. For the record Spragg, Andy, Tyrus, and several others have granted me permission. In fact only one has ever said no, and I respected that person's position.
