Eskimo wins a Queens Poker Classic event, roughly 1994, roughly $100,000.
One hour after the event ends I walk into the room.
Eskimo is refusing to sign the W2G.
7 well known players, including 2 past WSOP champions, are lounging around a poker table. They are all partners in the win. Eskimo has roughly 20% of the win.
Eskimo is not refusing to pay them, just refusing to sign the W2G for the win. He wants it broke up and everyone sign their own. This was the 1st year of W2G signing for poker tournys. We did not break out the wins to partners.
I talk to Eskimo. He flat refuses. The 7 players yawn and relax.
I told Steve Morrow, tourny director, lock the $ in a safety deposit box. The 7 players came unglued, jumped up, grab Eskimo and retreated into a corner. 10 minutes later Eskimo signed.
Eskimo gave his "Truck" as place of residence on the W2G.
Point of story:
In the old days players made deals with a guy that lived in his "truck" and did not worry about NOT getting paid.
