Carmelo, Click where it says bid history on the item that you are bidding on.See how many people bid on that item. You will see sometimes that there are more bids than names. That means that the person who outbid you left a higher bid. If it's always a new name check and see what other auctions that person bid on. Never know you may find a pattern.
