In essence, the only person who could tell if a chip is repaired (or counterfeit) is the person who repaired (or made) it.
Now, of what possible use could an "expert" be in this situation? Exactly what would the authentication process be, if no "expert" could tell if a chip has been repaired or counterfeited? What value would slabbing a chip add in this situation, if not authentication or fine increment grading (which is irrelevant as relates to chips)?
We hear that we need slabbing to protect the interests of those who need authentication of their chips to protect their investments, but I contend (as do most people who do not like the idea of slabbing) that there is NO ONE who is "qualified" to authenticate ANY chips.
