I notice someone is auctioning a set of chips from the 1-2-8 Pai Gow Club on Ebay. Minimum bid $900. Someone else auctioned some of these chips last week and they went for a good price. I'm curious as to why the price is so high? This club never opened so to me the chips are much less desirable than from a club that actually existed. Also, they're not particularly old. I understand with the brass core they're nice chips. But the thing that bothers me is if we chip collectors will pay such high prices for chips from clubs that never existed, won't that encourage people to make beautiful chips for clubs they MIGHT open, then decide to sell the chips off to collectors at high prices rather than open the club?
