Re: Random Musings / Slabbing

"Chip Slabbing:
. . . Put your chips in slabs if you want, that is YOUR CHOICE.. to each their own I say!!"

To be VERY picky about this point. Not to say it will happen, but it could.

There are several people who post on this board who(while not of icon status) are respected for their intellgence and chip knowledge.

If one of these respected gentlemen were to decide that he wanted to slab his chips, how could it hurt the hobby or any individuale?

Here's how.

Eventually, as we all must, he will pass on. His heirs or his estate will sell his chip collection, and there will be a bunch of slabbed chips on the market.

At that point, someone might say, "Joe was a well-known and respected collector. If he slabbed his chips, it couldn't be that evil and destructive to the hobby. Maybe I'll start slabbing some of my better/older/valuable chips."

The threat imposed by slabbing is like rust, it never sleeps. We all have to be constantly aware of the many ways it can creep into the hobby.

Use AirTites, guys. NO SLABBIBG ALLOWED, EVER!

Just my personal opinion. Do whatever you like. But please think about the possible future effect your actions may have on the hobby you love.
