but did not recall if the redemption notice specified the GO by name, or by general description.
I know that many of us go through the same phases and events, but I recall my very first "on the horns of a dilema" decission point.
When I first got into collecting we stopped in Laughlin on our way to Vegas. I stopped at the Golden Nugget and asked to see if they had any older chips. I was shown several $5's (LEs) and since I only collected $1's at the time, I was reluctant to even get one of the $5's! But one was very appealing to me because it displayed two American flags and the overall colors of the chip was red, white and blue. It was the 1995 4th of July issue and I thought it was really cool.
At the point I decided to venture into the $5 world, the cage person then told me that there was a redemption going on for that chip and in about a week it would no longer be accepted for redemption! I was in dismay. Should I buy it or not? After a few minutes I convinced myself to buy it. I remember when the actual redemption period expired telling myself that it would OK. That the chip would probaby not sink below $5.
Well, I still have that exact same chip, and I guess I've graduated to the occassional $100 chip purchase, but this is my first $100 redemption!!!
But I'll keep it.
