Tonight's selection comes to us from the continent of Africa and is a 1972 issue 5000 Franc from the country of Mali. The front depicts a farmer wearing a blue turbine watching over his cattle. Many of the older African notes have brilliant color. The back depicts a woman picking cotton while another is working in a textile factory making material from the cotton. This note is VF and carries a $30.00 book value. Even though this note is 'tired' the colors remain vivid. There is no security thread but has a watermark of the farmer with the turbine. Not sure of the printer. ENJOY
There is no conversion rate on these notes because Mali rejoined the African Financial Community in 1984 and now uses WAS (West African States) currency and Mali is denoted with a "D" on the face of the note.
