Thanks for the timely response.... I lost the thread and finally found it again (told ya' I was slow )
I never thought about the tips only being "Keep the Change" and averaging like you said 50¢. I never thought about the tips going UP as a result.
Knowing tipped employees often work for much less and rely on tips (plus my son worked as waitstaff through much of college) I usually tip well starting at 20% and go up.
He waited on me once and I left him a $500 cash tip for a $50 meal..... (his car was broke- Pay him now or pay him later ) Something tells me he didn't report it.
