however something you said rubbed me the wrong way.
I have to disagree with you on several points.
1) You mention that you suspect a small group runs this hobby. I hope you are not implying that the few vocal people here on this "NON CLUB" Board are the ones you refer to. The actual people who run this club currently are the Board of Directors. These fine people were voted into that position by club members who believed them to be the best for the future of our club.
2) You seem to imply that anyone who does not agree with the "Small Group" are shunned and their ideas are dismissed. Once again, this is a public bulletin board where anyone can post. many of the posters are in fact NOT current club members. If anyone has an idea to improve the club, or anything associated with the CC & GTCC, I suggest that they make thier post on the CLUB BOARD and NOT on the CHIP Board. All suggestions made on the club run board will be taken into consideration and responded to with respect and without ridicule.
This like any other bulletin board has lots of people with varying opinions. Just about any post made will have someone who had an oposing opinion, whether it be Politics, Baseball, or even chipping. The fact remains, that this board DOES NOT REPRESENT THE CC & GTCC. Sure most of the posters are members, but these opinions do not reflect the opinions of the club.
The problem I see is that many people complain but do nothing about it. How many people on this board have run for office? How many have been to a club business meeting? How many even are aware that there even is a business meeting each and every year?
The one point I do agree with you on is the single price guide. I think that it takes multiple price guides to keep things in line. With only one source of information people put too much emphasis on a fixed price for chips. These guides are just that.... Guides. they are not meant to set the market value of chips, just make a suggested reference point.
For those who would like to see the guides updated yearly or even monthly, I support your enthusiasm. If anyone has the time or money to produce such a guide I will support it and use it as yet another tool in judging the value of chips.
These are just my opinions and I am sure others have ones that differ from mine, and thats OK.
I just wanted to give another mans views.
Happy chipping to all,
Doug
