Sam you are wrong. A professional service that slabs chips will detect any all all flaws to include alterations and reproduction. As for inflating prices, prices only move higher when a buyer is willing to pay a higher price because of preceived value or rarity. What is an inflated value? How can you even justify inflated values? Because it goes out of the reach of a certain group of collectors? Do you honestly think a LE slabbed chip will have any greater value or become inflated? How stupid do you think the average collector is? I'm not talking about slabbing every chip out there, I'm talking about slabbing chips that are rare, unique and expensive and are the potential candidates to be copied by unscrupulous individuals that will RUIN the very hobby you are trying to protect!! There are a handful of people in this hobby to include myself that regualry pay $5000 and up for chips. Slabbing will not effect or inflate prices as you worry about. What it will do is protect the buyer from a counterfeit or altered chip. I suppose you think we should do away with air-tights as well?
