How do you suppose these little gems wind up in so many chip collector's albums and listed in TCR?

I just figured most of them were obsolete. Based on Gene's comments on the subject I just figured the consequences were dire enough so not many people would want to walk with them. I know that I would not like neither to be banned from poker rooms nor my name reported to other properties. And if I were in tournaments I don't think I'd like the idea of someone being able to slip chips into a game, but maybe that's just my ignorance of the game.
