The Mint
100 Fremont St.
1957-1989
When The Mint opened, they weren't located at 100 Fremont Street. That was the address of the corner building occupied by the State Bank of Nevada, and later the Birdcage Casino. After the Birdcage closed The Mint took it over. They remodelled and installed an entrance on the corner.
The blue and gold item is a menu from The Mint's Ambassador Room Restaurant. It was on the top floor of the tower. Later it was called the Top of the Mint Restaurant. We had dinner there once...it was so cool, you took a glass elevator up the outside of the tower to get to the restaurant. Awesome dinner, and what a view!
Fuller's Index shows a 21 Club at 104 Fremont Street, in the 1940's. Couldn't find any postcards showing it. That MAY have been the original address of The Mint. (That's speculation on my part, we don't have any phone books from Vegas for the years that the Birdcage was in operation.)
In 1989 the Horseshoe took over The Mint, and expanded.
