Tried my hand at the WSOP Seniors Event last week. Enjoyed the experience to say the least. I only lasted three hours, far short of my goal of course. I found myself in a hand against Ron Rose when the blinds were at 100/200.
Ron went all in with a short stack of $475 before the turn. Everyone folded and I decided to call with 9s - 10s.
I was sitting on $1650 in chips at the time.
Ron turned over rockets and I was a bit bummed, but I felt I had a good chance at cracking them.
The flop came 10h - 4s - Js so I was looking for any spade, a 9 or a 10, the turn was an 8d so a 7 or Q would now put Ron out. Lot's of outs and of course nothing hit.
Six hands later I went all in pre flop against Ron again. I had KQ suited. This time Ron
had AQ . That ended my tournament and of course Ron Rose went on to finish in sixth place. I spent the next little while watching Annie Duke, Phil Ivey, Gabe Kaplan, Doyle Brunson and a host of other big names playing in what I wa told was a $50000 buy in game.
Over all a great time in Vegas. Stayed at the Rio, had great food great gaming and met a lot of good folks.
Will be back in Vegas in September for our Optical Convention.
